'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lutz Pfannenstiel Record Breaker

Back in November Vital Forest had the privilege of chatting with goalkeeper Lutz Pfannenstiel, a former Forest reserve keeper from the 90's. Although Lutz never made it with the Reds, he's more than made a living from the game he loves and as a result of his globetrotting ways, he's entered the Guinness Book Of Records for being the first player to play football on all continents.

It was great to get an email from him this morning saying 'I just wanted to let you know that i did it. I set the world record. I signed a contract in Brasil on the 22 of January.' The club he's signed for is Club Atlético Hermann Aichinger, also known as Atlético Ibirama. They ply their trade in the Campeonato Acreano.

This will be the 25th club that Lutz has played for and the 15th country he's played in. By his own admission, he's had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus. He's a colourful and likeable fella and at 34 he's still got a few years in him yet. I'm sure this won't be his last club, but we'll wish him well in his time there. There has to be worse things in life than playing football in Brasil.
