Calderwood Shows He Has Passion

We can say what we like about Colin Calderwood and his strange tactics and formations, but his passion and desire to win can not be called into question.

At last night's drawn game at Roots Hall, he was getting a proper slating from the fans and deservedly so. The first 45 mins were a disaster, so much so that chants of 'are you Megson in disguise?' rang out from the travelling fans.

He made changes at the interval, introducing Tyson and Thornhill for Holt and Agogo. It was a move that changed the game and may have even saved CC his job. Thornhill grabbed the equaliser and CC sank to his knees and even celebrated with the fans. He's often to be seen kicking water bottles and has been known to challenge a fan or two over questioning his methods during a game. I like this side of him and would like him to continue having his hissy fits if it brings about positive results.

In his post match interview you could hear the tension and almost hysteria when he spoke. He was clearly a relieved man. He went as far a criticising his players, that was the first time to my memory. Although he didn't name them, you got the gist that it was Holt and Agogo that he was on about.

He told the BBC 'We were tigers in the second half but tame in the first half. I was hurt by the first-half performance. We were ponderous, we knew there had to be a reaction and the difference in the second half was vast. Once we got going we played with a lot of passion and pride.'

It was only a point and as has been said on the message boards, they're of precious use to us if we want automatic promotion. But if this draw can set us on our way and start getting us wins, then it might not have been such a bad night. All in all, well done Calderwood. You don't hear that very often these days.

I picked up on his interview earlier (in a message board thread) & Forest World subscribers can hear it again - this passion is something that we want to see & hear - not ****** footting around protecting sub-standard player performances!
