'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McGugan Not Ready To Give Up Yet

This time last year everyone of the players to a man was appearing in every newspaper in the land, to claim that we'd make it to the Championship at the second time of asking. This time round they appear to be a little more subdued in their outbursts and a little more cautious with their words.

It's with this in mind that we can forgive Lewis his comments, made whilst talking to the Hartlepool site, ahead of the weekend game.

Talking about our slim chances of an auto spot he said. 'I think that to be honest the other teams might not be used to being in that situation when it gets to the pressure end of the season. It's about who can get the best results and we're having a really good run. Hopefully they can have a bad run and we can take advantage of that. If it doesn't work out and we don't get automatic, we will go into the Play Offs full of optimism and ready to go.'

Although our chances of snatching the second spot are slim, I'm glad for once to hear the lads talking themselves up. The more twitchy that Donny and Carlisle feel and the more they can feel us breathing down their necks, the better it is for us. If results go our way at the weekend, then expect each and everyone of them to fill every column inch going in the build up to the final game of the season.
