Calderwood Confident Of Keeping Commons

Colin Calderwood today said he was confident of getting winger Kris Commons to sign a new contract to keep him at the City Ground.

Commons' contract expires in June, when he will be able to discuss terms with any prospective clubs.

Arch rivals Derby County are said to be heading the queue to land the hot shot, but Calderwood is confident of fending them off.

He told the official site. 'We want to get Kris signed up and get it done as quickly as possible. There will be suitors, he's entitled to speak to other clubs' very shortly and the possibility is they might be of interest to him. But I know where his heart lies, especially in the East Midlands. He always said to me that he wanted to be in a Championship team and ideally with Nottingham Forest.'

Commons who is only 24, could leave on a free if he wanted, but it does sound we might hold the ace card with him being a Forest fan. Having said that, money talks and if they offer enough, he could be tempted to cast his loyalties to one side and join forces with the old enemy.
