Holt - 'Come And Get Me' Plea To Carlisle

Grant Holt was resigned to the bench for most of the last campaign and finished the season on loan at Championship side Blackpool, but it now looks as though his Forest days are over.

Holt finished the 2006/7 season as the clubs' top scorer and Player of the Year, but found himself starting last season as a sub for most games and never really found his goalscoring touch.

In fairness to him, he was often played out of position on the wing, which never suited his style play with him being a more orthodox striker. That said, rumours of a fall out with the boss and a lack of form meant his days at the City Ground were numbered.

After failing to make an impact at Blackpool, it now seems his services are in demand again, with Hartlepool and Bristol Rovers wanting him. Holt though seems less than keen on these two and would much prefer a move to his hometown and the club he supports, Carlisle.

Holt told the Hartlepool Mail. 'If Carlisle came knocking and everything was right, it's an opportunity I would love to take. Anybody who knows me is aware of how much I support Carlisle. But I have to keep my options open.'

He still has a year left on his Forest contract, so there is the small chance of a fee, but it looks as though Calderwood will let him go for nothing as he clearly doesn't figure in his plans.

Odd that - he's vowed to stay & fight for his place today - perhaps no-one wants him OR they won't pay what we are - thus seeing out his final year sat in the ressies as the highest paid player!
