Forest v Morecambe In Carling Cup

The 1st round draw for the 2008/9 Carling Cup competition was made this morning and Forest will play League 2 side Morecambe at home.

The ties are to be played the week beginning August 11 and it will be the first time the two sides have met in a competitive game.

The Shrimps are currently managed by former Northern Ireland, Stockport and Macclesfield Town boss Sammy McIlroy. Last season they managed to dump two Championship sides out of the competition, in Preston and Wolves.

Morecambe finished in 11th place in the table last season and were knocked out of the Carling Cup by Sheffield United.
