'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Forest Fans Have High Hopes For New Season

Following our promotion to the Championship and some impressive summer signings, the Forest faithful have a renewed sense of optimism and have high hopes ahead of the new campaign.

It doesn't seem that long ago since I was one of the many folk calling for the head of Colin Calderwood on a stick. But as someone once said, 'football's a funny old game'. Since we won promotion CC has been busy clearing out the old and bringing in the new. That renewed faith in the manager is partly down to the manner in which promotion was achieved, but also down to some pretty astute and impressive new signings.

Forest have shelled out over £3M in building a team fit to compete in the Championship and it has the fans feeling positive for the new season. The latest Vital Poll, shows a whopping 51% saying that the Reds' will achieve automatic promotion at the first time of asking. I have to admit to not being one of those quite so optimistic fans though and personally believe that we will finish mid table, or just outside the Playoff placings at best. Infact in some respects I hope we do, if only to gain some much needed stability. Strange as it sounds, I don't think a season or two in the Championship will do us any harm at all. We only have to look at what happened to the Sheep, when they got to the Prem totally unprepared.

The other results from the Poll, show that 27% thought a mid table finish would be attained, with 14% saying we'd reach the Playoffs. Only 5% of the vote thought that we'd end up in a relegation dogfight, which in itself shows how far opinion in the team has changed. Check out the Poll results in full below.

You have lost a few good players as well though. Whats happening with Tyson?

Tyson has turned down the offer of an improved contract dazza. Still has a year to run on the present one.
God Almighty
I think Forest will do ok next year. You need to sign a few more players, but you've got a decent squad, a good manager, and what seems a pretty decent youth system.

i think you will have a half decent season.
