Cole - It's Not About The Money

Andrew Cole was today officially unveiled as Colin Calderwood's fourth signing of the summer, as Forest prepare for life in the Championship.

It was announced on Friday, that the former Manchester United and England striker had joined the Reds' on a free transfer, signing a one year deal. Following his release from Sunderland at the end of the last campaign, the rumour mill went into overdrive with the news that he was set to sign for us. Today, those rumours became a reality.

Fans could be forgiven for thinking that Cole had arrived at the City Ground for one last pay day, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Cole told the official site. 'It's a dream come true for me. I always said that one day I would play for Forest - I didn't think it would take as long as it did, but I'm delighted it's actually happened.'

He was quick to dispel any thoughts that he was here for an easy ride and to just pick up the cash when he said. 'It's not about the money, I had more lucrative offers from elsewhere, but I wanted to join Forest and make myself and a lot of other people happy. I still feel as though I've got a lot to offer, I wouldn't have come if I thought otherwise.'

If Andrew Cole can continue his goal scoring exploits with Forest, then no one will care how old he is, or how much money he's on. He may be 36, but he has more experience and ability than many that have been at the club in recent years. Welcome home Andrew and good luck.
