McGugan Aiming For England U21's
It's easy to forget that Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan is still only 19 and only made his first team debut 18 months ago, but he's come along way in that time and looks to be on the verge of an England U21 call up.
He still has a bit to do on that front, but U21 coach and City Ground legend Stuart Pearce, has already been alerted to the talents of the local lad done good. So much so that he came to pay a visit and check out Lewis and the rest of the young talent at the club towards the end of the last campaign.
McGugan told the official site. 'There have been a few rumours about me possibly getting an U21 call up. But I can't really do anything about that - I've just got to concentrate on my club football and let that do the talking for me.'
It's another added bonus of playing at a higher level and will bring the likes of McGugan and the other rising stars in the squad to the attention of a much wider audience. With that though, comes the unavoidable speculation of them being targets for bigger fish and the constant worry and paranoia that goes with it. That said, it has to be better than playing League 1 football. Good luck to Lewis in his quest for international honours. If he has a good season, then Forest as a club should as well.
