'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Good Vibrations Continue At The City Ground

The positive vibes emanating from the City Ground this summer continue, following a more than credible 1-1 draw with Prem boys Everton.

A crowd of over 15,000 witnessed an encouraging display from a youthful Forest side last night, as they took on an equally youthful Everton. Whilst it was only a friendly, the Forest faithful will take heart from a positive performance from the team and some fine individual displays from the newbies.

The signs are that the new signings are blending in well and that in Cole and Earnshaw we have a strike force to compete with any in the division. Frenchman Guy Moussi continues to draw praise and is fast becoming a cult hero on the terraces. If you add into the mix that youngsters Reid, Heath, Moloney and Thornton are knocking down CC's door for a first team place, then things look very rosy for Forest indeed.

Whilst it's early days and we should most definitely keep both feet on the ground, it's hard not to get carried away with the mood of optimism surrounding the club at the moment. The misery that fans have had to endure over the past three years is fast becoming a distant memory, following some impressive summer signings and even an improvement in the football being served up.

Again it should be stressed this was only a friendly, but the signs are that we are able to compete at a higher level. The real test will come on August 10, when Reading and the Setanta TV cameras roll into town, but we can take a lot of heart from the four games played so far. I'm off to have my feet firmly encased in concrete in readiness for the new season, which is only 16 days away and counting.
