Watson Will Leave Palace- But Where Will He Go?

According to the latest reports on the Sunday rumormill, Ben Watson is definitely on his way out of Selhurst Park and on his way to Forest in a deal worth £2m.

Some are saying that Nathan Tyson will be used to act as a 'sweetener' in the deal, as he heads in the opposite direction. If Forest do manage to pull this one off, they will have beaten stiff competition from QPR and Birmingham City in the process.

Trying to keep tabs on all this is proving difficult, because whichever of these club sites you go on you get a different tail. Sources at QPR are saying that although they appear to be the players first choice, Simon Jordan the Palace Chairman is reluctant to do business with them because of their manager Iain Dowie and the very public fallout between the two.

Reports from Birmingham indicate that they have failed to meet the asking price and are out of the running. The latest from Forest and it's only Internet chat, is that Watson has been here for talks and his signing is imminent. If true, it would probably be the signing of the summer for us and would even eclipse the signings of both Cole and Earnshaw. With only 7 days left until the season starts for us, you'd expect Calderwood to bring in a couple more new faces this week. Whether Watson is one of those remains to be seen, but we all live in hope.
