Reading Were A Tough Test - Calderwood

Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood was playing down his sides opening day performance, after the 0-0 draw at home to Reading this afternoon.

Calderwood told the official site. 'It was a tough test, but Reading are a Championship team now and we had to compete with them. That was the reality of the situation. We lacked a wee bit in the 2nd half in terms of fitness, but that will come as we play more matches.'

He said he was 'reasonably satisfied' with the result, but was probably over the moon in reality. He refused to get carried away with what supporters are seeing as a massive improvement on last year's performances.

Although we had keeper Paul Smith to thank for saving the day with a great save near the end, Forest dominated the play for large periods of the game and might even claim to have deserved more from the game than a single point.

Calderwood said. 'I'm reasonably satisfied - we were dipping our toe in the Championship to a certain extent and I don't think we've got anything to be frightened of.'
