Green Sweatshirt Tribute For Cloughie

Nottingham Forest play Sunderland in the second round of the Carling Cup next Wednesday night and manager Colin Calderwood has urged fans of both sides to pay tribute to The Great Man, Brian Clough.

Cloughie made 61 appearances for the Black Cats and scored a remarkable 54 goals in his brief spell with the club.

Calderwood told the official site. 'Anyone who holds Forest close to their hearts won't need telling about the contribution Brian made. I'm also aware of the massive impact he made as a Sunderland player and I want both sets of fans to honour him.'

It's good to see the club encouraging us all to honour The Great Man in this way, as they normally shy away from the very mention of his name. Why the club ignore the appreciation the fans have for him is beyond me, but normally they want little to do with recognising his achievements. At least this is a positive move and they should be applauded for it.

Stand up and sing for Cloughie the King. Let's not forget the contribution of the late and great Peter Taylor either.
