Captain 'Brecks' Earning The Plaudits
Three seasons ago he was deservedly voted the clubs'Player of the Year, for some outstanding displays at the heart of defence. But since then and last season in particular, many fans and I include myself have used him as a whipping boy.
His recent performances in the Garibaldi though, have made gobby little gits like myself eat their words and fair play to him for that.
He's 33 now and probably coming to the end of a long career, but Forest boss Colin Calderwood says he still has an important role to play for the club.
Calderwood told ITV Sport. 'You just have to look at the stats. He has often been involved when we have taken points and he has never done badly for us. He knows himself that he can no longer play Saturday and Tuesday. But the reason Brecks is playing is because he is the best header of the ball at the club. He is composed on the ball and he still has a lot to give us. It might not be every week, but he has an important role to play in the squad this season'
If Brecks carries on in his current form, he'll get plenty of backing from the fans. Hopefully the likes of Morgan and Chambers can take a leaf out of his book and turn their game around.
