'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martin O'Neill, A Middle East Consortium and NFFC

The Daily Express really is going to have to do much better, if it hopes to get a bite from Forest fans this morning. In it's latest attempt to extract the urine from us poor downbeat, disheartened and disillusioned fans, they are trying to bluff us into thinking Martin O'Neill is to be the next savior of NFFC, with the aid of a Middle East Consortium, who in turn will take over the club from current Chairman Nigel Doughty.

Well, it made me laugh anyway. This is the second rumour to emanate from the Express group of papers, following hot on the heals of the News of the World tale that Big Sam Allardyce was trying to put a bid together for the club.

The thought of yet another Martin O'Neill rumour doing the rounds doesn't bare thinking about. At least with this being the third time it's reared it's ugly head, we won't get bitten again. Will we?

Unfortunately, there isn't a snow balls chance in hell, of O'Neill coming to the City Ground to rescue us from our current woes. His Aston Villa side are knocking on the door of the Prems top four, so why on God's green earth would he want to come here? Especially when he's turned us down flatly TWICE before.

What is of interest in this latest example of lazy journalism, is the idea that Nigel Doughty might be looking to offload the club. He's bound to have been bitten by this credit crunch and could be searching for a way out. It's the second rumour to surface on a potential takeover, he could be putting out the feelers and sounding out interested parties. If nothing else, it's given us something to gossip about, on an otherwise dull Wednesday.

That hotbed of informative reporting the Daily Express. Not that I wouldn't like to see Forest get a bit of money behind them, because I would.

Playing Devils Advocate - who would you rather buy, a club with potential and available at a decent price or a struggling premiership club likely to go down? Forest are certainly markettable, yet MON is about as likely to come & manage Forest as Jose Mourinho!

I heard Mourinho was looking at Forest earlier in the season.......
