Stoke Midfielder Linked With City Ground Move

Various sources are today linking out of favour Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan with a move to the City Ground.

Whelan (24) was signed by the Potters in January, from Sheffield Wednesday for 500,000 and was an integral part of their run in for promotion. But since their arrival in the Premiership, the Republic of Ireland international has found himself on the sidelines.

It seems a strange one really, as most fans see the need to strengthen the strikeforce and defence as a bigger priority than midfield. That said, Whelan is tried and tested at Championship level and wouldn't be a bad addition. He scored 12 goals for the Wendies in 142 appearances and 1 for Stoke, in 18.
