Clingan Unsure Of City Ground Reception

Sammy Clingan today makes his first visit to the City Ground, since joining Norwich City in the summer. The former Reds' midfielder is looking forward to it, but says he doesn't know what sort of reception he will get from the fans.

Clingan spent two years at Forest, signing from Wolves in 2006. He made 85 appearances for us, scoring once and was an integral part of last seasons' promotion winning side. He moved on a free transfer this summer, as Glenn Roeders first signing.

Clingan told the Canaries official site. 'It was the first fixture I looked for when the fixture list came out and it will be a special occasion when I go back there.'

The match is being shown live on Sky TV (KO 5.20pm) and Sammy has 13 members of his family coming over from Belfast for the game. He's uncertain of the welcome he will get from fans and said. 'I'm not sure how the fans will take to me. I always gave 100% when I put on the Forest shirt, as I do with any team I play for. I'm looking forward to going back.'

He nearly didn't make the game after picking up two stitches in a headwound during the midweek international for Northern Ireland, but he's been given the all clear and is raring to go. Forest fans traditionally give a frosty reception to defectors on their return, but Sammy served us well and should be applauded onto the pitch. I'm not sure he'll get it though, but there's always a first time.

Clingan was man of the match IMO - a few mistakes aside, he certainly showed us up!
