NFFC: Listen To The Fans PLEASE

Nottingham Forest Football Club have today taken the unusual step of announcining Billy Davies as their preferred choice as the next manager of the club.

The statement on the official site, merely confirms that negotiations are underway and that he is their preferred candidate. It's an unusual step, in so much that it's clearly not a done deal. So why announce it in this way?

Both Nigel Doughty and Mark Arthur must know the strength of feeling against Davies being the new boss and I don't think it has anything to do with his Derby connections. Fans seem genuinely concerned about his ability to do the job. The Vital Forest new manager Poll, shows that only 5% of the fanbase want Davies in.

No matter what Forest website you frequent, there is a poll on who they want in as the next manager. Opinion on who that man should be is varied, but the one thing each and everyone have in common, is that Davies is not the man.

I would urge the club to take time out to check one or two of the Forest websites, to try and guage the sense of feeling against Davies. They will never appoint someone who everyone is in agreement with, but they could appoint someone who the majority are not against.

Time for young Nigel to step up? He'll only get one shot so he'll have to get it right.
