'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Billy Davies And The Feelgood Factor

The new era at Nottingham Forest under Billy Davies has got off to a flying start, with two wins out of two. His charm offensive with the fans, is working a treat and the players are responding too. All of a sudden, the garden is very rosey at the City Ground and it's so far, so good for King Billy as the feelgood factor returns to NFFC.

Since the arrrival of Billy Davies, he's not only been talking the talk, he's been doing the walk as well. His appointment may not have been universally accepted by the fans (myself included), but the impact that he's had and the effect he's had on the club, could not have been better executed.

Following the win over Plymouth, Davies had his feet firmly on the ground. Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham after the game, he said. 'I could not have asked for a better start but we are certainly not getting carried away with it. When I arrived the aim was to make this football club safe in the Championship and that's still the aim.
The important thing is we got three points against a well-organised side.'

It was a solid and professional performance from the lads and a result that was thoroughly deserved. It sounds as though Davies is a shrewd operator and knows what needs to be done and his short term goal of Championship survival is at present going according to plan. This is in sharp contrast to the mood around the club under Calderwood, when things were looking very bleak indeed. It's onto the Sheepdip next and if we get the right result there, then Billy will be the Saviour, the recession will be over and all will be well with the world. Oh, happy days!
