Davies Fires Warning To Doughty And Arthur

Unsurprisingly, tempers have been flaring over the weekend following the 3-1 defeat at home to the Mutton Molestors and supporters have been venting their anger towards both the management and the board of NFFC.

Quite how we can be blaming Billy Davies for our current plight is a mystery, when he is afterall working with the same tools that the hapless Calderwood did. Regardless of whether we wanted the Scruffy one here or not, he's here now and we have to back him and if he gets his way, the board will back him too.

Both Davies and the board have come in for heavy criticism and in the boards case, it's totally justified. According to his latest article in the Nottingham Evening Post, Davies has issued a shopping list to Messrs Doughty and Arthur, but they've failed to deliver on any of his requests.

The Mail Online, goes as far as to say that he's heading for a showdown with our Football Consultant, David Pleat over the lack of activity in the transfer market. The truth about what is actually going on inside NFFC towers, can probably be found somewhere between these two articles, but one thing is certain and it's that Davies is looking to get control of the transfer budget and call the shots regarding who comes in and who goes out.

Although you can't see Nigel Doughty relinquishing control of the transfer kitty altogether, giving Davies autonomy can't be an entirely bad idea. Forest are clearly trying to get players in on the cheap, but they're going to have to up the anti if they want to keep Davies happy and also keep him quiet. Billy might just be flexing his muscles, but it should serve as a warning shot to the board that they are going to have to up their game to sign players and avoid a further sounding off from the manager. This is just a warning shot for Doughty and Arthur, next time it could be a direct hit.

I'm backing Billy - He is only saying what we already know, they may just listen to him, whereas they don't give a toss what we say or think!
