'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tight Fisted Tykes v Forest

Third from bottom Forest travel to sixth from bottom Barnsley on Saturday, for a vital game in our bid for Championship survival. Despite the fact that Forest fans have been fleeced over ticket pricing by the Yorkshire club, nearly 4,000 Trickies will make the short trip up the M1.

The Tykes have the luxury of having two games in hand over us, which makes victory all the more important. Whilst a draw may suit the home side more, it will be of little use to us in our current predicament. A win for Forest would put us level on points, but would still leave the hosts with a game in hand and also a superior goal difference.

The injury crisis that we were suffering prior to the international break has eased somewhat, with Anderson, Osbourne, Lynch and Garner available again. Doubts remain over Moussi and Thornhill, but they do have a chance to still make the game. Although Billy Davies has been able to add to his threadbare squad with loan signings, he will have to leave two from his seven loan players out, with only five being able to be named in a 16 man squad. Barnsley boss Simon Davey, has the luxury of being able to pick from a fully fit squad.

The last time the two sides met back in November at the City Ground, Forest ran out 1-0 winners in a game that saved Colin Calderwood his job, at least in the short term. In 63 meetings between the teams Forest have won 24, lost 23 and drawn 16.
