'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Billy's Aiming High

Although the end of season run in was a tense and nervous one for fans and the club alike, the Reds' actually finished the season clear of the relegation zone and missed the drop by a good 7 points.

That was partly down to the failings of others and a little help along the way from the likes of Reading, but now the sason is over, Reds' boss Billy Davies is turning his attention to rebuilding the team and turning it into one capable of reaching the Premiership.

It all sounds a bit fanciful, but Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham. 'What we've got here is a fantastic ambition and a drive that's second to none. With everybody working hard there's no reason why this club can't go to where it belongs, that's the Premier League.'

The Premier League seems a million miles away following the traumatic season that we've endured, but Davies is clearly an ambitious man. I don't suppose any club in the Championship will be aiming for anything less than promotion next season, but it does seem a long way off for us.

Davies does have big plans for the summer and wholesale changes are expected. There will have to be some real quality added to the current playing staff for him to achieve his goal, but if he's backed in the transfer market as we all hope he will be, then who knows what could happen. The season may be over on the pitch, but it's going to be a busy one off it....if Billy gets his way.
