No New Sponsor For Forest.....Yet

There's still no concrete news on a new main sponsor for NFFC, as the search continues for a successor to Capital One.

There have been rumours of a deal being done with a number of companies, with e.on and the locally based charity Child Line being the frontrunners.

Whilst a deal with e.on would appear the most lucrative, there would be much kudos to be gained from supporting Child Line. The charity has been a beneficiary of Nigel Doughty's in the past, with our Chairman a keen supporter of them. Earlier this year, Doughty was reported to have donated a million pounds to Child Line, but despite this they don't appear to be in the running.

At this moment in time, the word we have is that a Gibraltar based bookmaker is the frontrunner in the clubs' hunt for a sponsor. Finding out which one it is though, is proving harder than picking a Grand National winner, with most of the leading companies having bases their. The place is something of a tax haven, with Victor Chandler, William Hill and numerous online gaming agencies based there.

The word we have from the club at present, is that the new shirt will be logo free and will be a 30th anniversary shirt, commemorating our first European Cup win over Malmo. It will feature the club crest and two prominently placed gold stars. I like the sound of that and if true, should look pretty smart indeed, not to mention a nice little 'v'sign to the rest of the footballing world.
