The Vital Forest Fan Interview: Alan Wood

The Vital Forest Fan Interview: Alan Wood

Q - How long have you been following Forest and what was your first game?

I am 63 now and my first matches were Div 3 South. 1952.

Q - What are your most memorable moments as a Forest fan? Good and Bad.

Best moment was at the 1959 cup final at Wembley. Commiserating with the Luton fans afterwards. The parades with the cup later in Nottingham.
A bad experience was when Derek Dougan, playing for Villa, was sent off for kicking Peter Grummit our goalkeeper, I hit him on his arm as he came off. he turned round and I thought he was going to hit me but he then carried on to the dressing room.
I had a shock the next day as I did my paper round and saw pictures of me with my Forest scarf around my neck and my rattle in my hand and the headlines Angry fan strikes Dougan.

My Dad gave me a good hiding !! I wrote to Dougan at Villa saying I was the fan who struck him after the unfortunate incident and he sent me his autograph, bless him !

Q - Since you have been following Forest, what would your best eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

Shilts in goal of course,Anderson,Mckinley,Whitefoot,Pearce ( with Shilts the best Forest signings )Gemmill and O'Neill,Robertson,Joe baker,Ian Storeymoore and Alan Hinton, again some cracking goals.

Q - What would you say is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

Flip le Flem against Burnley. He took the ball and just carried on beating every one and scored a cracker! Ian Storeymoore against everton and Tyson against Man City.

Q - Best and worst away ground visited?
Doncaster years ago.

Best I suppose was Old Trafford, but we had just thrashed United so I was in a good mood.

Q - What are your thoughts on the proposed new stadium?

The City ground is home, but if we get the world cup income and hopefully get bigger crowds when we are back in the Premiership we need to move.

Q- Which player(s) would you like to see us sign this summer(realistically)?

Definately Rob Jones. Wilson needs to improve 100 per cent on his concentration and he certainly wouldn´t get in my team. Blackstock and Camp hopefully will arrive when QPR have sorted out their new manager. Adebola seems likely to join us and the Preston captain.

Q - All seater stadia. Good thing, or a bad thing?

I was at Hillsbrough, but I still believe there could be controlled standing at every ground. I hate sitting down at a ground! It doesn´t seem right. At least if you are standing next to some negative idiot you don´t like, you can tell him to move or move yourself to another part of the ground!

Q - What are your thoughts on how Forest did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?

I was over optimistic and thought 9th or 10th so I was disappointed, but in the end relieved we stayed up.

Q - What are your expectations for next season in the Championship?

I expect,if we get the signings we need and looking at who is up and down, we should have a top six finish.

Q - What League position will Forest occupy at the end of the 2009/10 season?

5th.

Q - What's your opinion of Billy Davies and what he's done at NFFC, since arriving in January?

Good job, professional and he will help to clear out our dreaded aquisition panel and move us forward.

Q - Where do you sit/stand at the City Ground?

As I now live in Isla Margarita,Venezuela I can only attend a few matches now.

Q - Name the celebrity you would most like to bang.

I don´t understand the question. Does it mean hit them or sleep with them? If it´s hit them I already did it with Dougan and if it´s sleep with someone I´m not putting it here.....
Best wishes to Everyone at Vital Football and a successful season for Forest.
Alan Wood
