Positive Rule Change To Benefit All FL Clubs
It's a pat on the back for once, for the Football League, as they introduce a change in the rules for the number of substitutes available in team selections.
The current rules, state that clubs' can opt for any 3 from 5 players named on the bench. From the beginning of next season, that will increase to any 3 from 7.
This is for once a positive move from the FL and one that will benefit all clubs'. As Forest fans witnessed last season, manager Billy Davies is not averse to swapping things around in the middle of a game. Of course you need a squad big enough to cope with the rule and the Reds' would have struggled with this at times last year. But Billy looks set to be addressing that problem, with his desire for a bigger squad.
The rule change was proposed by Derby County of all people and was accepted by the FL. Hats off to them for that then. Other changes adopted by the FL, include new rules for clubs that fall behind with its employee related payments to HMRC. A new rule states that they will be subject to a transfer embargo until such time as any debt is cleared.
