Gunter Fee Agreed At Only £1.75m

For most Forest fans, the signing (subject to a medical) of Spurs defender Chris Gunter, will be seen as one of the most significant of the summer for the club. So the news today on the official site, makes for very pleasant reading indeed.

Gunter only made 8 appearances whilst on loan from the Londoners at the end of last season, but quickly made a name for himself and was seen as one of the reasons we managed to stave off relegation. He added some much needed quality and stability, to what was the leakiest defence in the division.

The fee of £1.75m for his signature is something of a bargain, for a player who cost Spurs close to £3m. It was always hoped that we would land him, with Gunter himself even expressing his desire to come. Most fans believed that he would sign, but it would probably be on a season long loan. So it's fair play to the club for pulling the deal off that gets him here permanently. Welcome to the City Ground Chris Gunter.

I'm a spurs boy an just thought i'd pop in to say you've just signed a real gem. I can't believe we've let such a good prospect go, but hey thats tottenham for you. I remember Gunter having a really solid game against Chelsea when our main right back was injured the season before last. Great prospect and will be a top championship player that could develop into premiership quality given the chance

I'm over the moon at this signing, this boy is real class and fair play to the much maligned transfer committee £1.75m is a snip for such talent, it really shows what ambition the club has and that we are learning from our mistakes and strengthening the rather weak defence keep em coming, the sheep will be turning green with envy....Shaun who?????!!

Another spurs fan here, surprised to say the least. Never put a foot wrong as far as I can tell and didn@t look out of place against Chelski. Very good deal for you boys, fair play. Good luck Chris and good luck Forest. Let@s hope he helps get you boys back where you belong.

Makes a pleasant change to see such glowing and positive views from opposition fans. He's a good lad alright and will be an asset to Forest.

I'm really disappointed Spurs sold him, quality young player, will be awesome in a few years. Great signing for Forest though, you guys will do well with a few more like him.

I'm disappointed we didn't try to incorporate him into the deal that was letting our lads go. Think he's a real prospect.

You're dead right NU. Glad to see Dawson doing so well at the Lane. We never managed to replace him unfortunately.
