Yesterday, Vital Forest learned of two rejected bids for Forest utility man James Perch, from Premiership boys Portsmouth. Today the news is they are now after Wes Morgan as well.
With former Reds' boss Paul Hart being given the job permanently at Pompey today, he's all set to spend. His first job is rumoured to be a double swoop on Forest.
Whilst many fans might be up in arms at that prospect, there could be a sweetner in the price. Portsmouth have bid £1.5m for Perch and a similar figure for Wes. Now even the staunchest of fans will find it hard to shed a tear those prices, but that's the info we have.
Losing Morgan might be seen as a blow to some, but the on/off deal to bring in Matthew Mills from Doncaster Rovers, could be back on again. WBA have now thrown their hat in the ring and have become a possible destination for the Donny defender. Boro are no longer in the running, so it's a two horse race between us and the Baggies, with Mills' agent apparently advising a move to the City Ground, as a place with better prospects. I kid you not.
Forest have set a Friday lunchtime deadline on Doncaster Rovers to finalise the deal for Mills and we've matched the offer made by Albion. The bidding currently stands at £2.2m and we will go higher if necessary. The money from the potential sale of Wes and Perch will be used to help finance that.
Other transfer news concerning Forest, is that we are at an advanced stage in a deal to bring in Daniel Fox from Coventry and Zak Whitbread at Millwall, looks set to become a Red. I think that just about covers things.....Oh, yeah, the deal for the Polish geezer looks done and we could still be in for Elliott Ward.
