Middlesbrough were dealt a wake up call yesterday, after being thumped 5-0 at home to table toppers West Brom. The win for the Baggies, puts them a point clear at the top, after Newcastle's defeat to Blackpool in midweek.
Preston continue to perform well and got a 3-2 win at home to Coventry, despite being a goal behind at half time through a 19th min effort from former Red Sammy Clingan. The victory puts the Lillywhites in 4th spot.
Cardiff managed to hold onto 6th place, despite losing 2-0 at home to QPR. They share the final Playoff spot with Blackpool, who carried out a smash and grab raid at the City Ground with a 1-0 win over us.
It wasn't all doom and gloom for Forest fans though, because Nigel Clough's Sheepshag Army, made it 4 successive defeats on the bounce. The Rams lost 1-0 away at Palace, to drag them down to 17th in the table. They sit 2 places above us in the table, but we are level on points.
Peterborough picked up an unlikely 3 points at home to Reading and that was after being 2 down at the break. The win takes them up to 18th place. Barnsley followed their midweek win away at the Sheepdip, by picking up a point at home to struggling Swansea. The 0-0 draw with the Swans still keeps them in the drop zone, but they will take a great deal of heart from the past 7 days.
Forest take on Blackburn at home in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night, ahead of the televised away game with Plymouth next Sunday. A win is vital for the Reds', as we bid to not only get our first away win of the season, but also to stay out of the relegation placings.
