'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tyson Wants More Than The Playoffs

After winning the last 3 games on the bounce, Forest have risen to the dizzy heights of 10th in the Chamopionship and sit just 1 point off a Playoff spot. To our shame, it's the highest league position we've held in 6 years and although it's rather nice to put it mildly, it does take a bit of getting used to.

What's even harder to get your head round, is players talking about winning automatic promotion and getting to the Promissed Land of the Premier League. It's along way off from where we were this time last year, when we were already embroiled in a relegation dogfight. After 11 games of the last campaign, we were rooted to the bottom of the Championship, 5 points adrift of safety.

It's some turnaround in fortunes that manager Billy Davies and his team have managed to perform, since arriving in January, some would even say miraculous. In less than 10 months, Davies has taken us from relegation favourites, to Playoff hopefuls. Nathan Tyson is even setting his sights higher and told BBC Radio Nottingham. 'A lot of us would want to achieve a lot more than just reaching the play-offs. Everyone's buzzing but we need to keep the momentum going.'

Jesus H on a bike! I nearly spilled me brew when reading that. But with lofty League positions, come higher and loftier aspirations. Just in case we thought Nathan had totally lost it, he did say that the gaffer was keeping their feet on the ground. Davies himself has said, he isn't even looking at the table at the moment and that he wont be until Christmas at least. Although none of us believe him for a minute, you can see what he's getting at. It is too early to be getting excited and there's still along way to go. But, there's no harm in dreaming I suppose and we have a fortnight in which to do it, before it could all come crashing in with the visit of the Geordies on October 17. God help us if we beat the Geordies. We'll really start believing then.
