According to Billy Davies, this was never going to be a classic and as things turned out he was right. The 0-0 scoreline reflects a game with only a few clear cut chances for both sides, with the quality of football on show, in limited supply.
Forest probably just about edged the first half in terms of quality, but a second half onslaught by the Hornets, will have left the home side feeling they were robbed. The Reds' were once again well backed by a travelling contingent of just over 2,000, but they will have travelled home feeling slightly fortunate to have bagged a point.
Billy Davies was a little miffed to see his side have a decent penalty claim denied by the hapless Mr. D'Urso, but that was nothing compared to the utter disbelief of Watford boss Malky Mackay, after he witnessed D'Urso deny his team a stone wall penalty late on in the game. This was just one more poor decision by the calamitous ref, in a long career of refereeing howlers.
The draw sees the Reds' unbeaten run now stretch to 15 games and puts us firmly in 3rd spot in the table, just 2 points behind West Brom. It brings to an end a dramatic 12 months for the club, in which supporters have seen a remarkable turnaround in events. This time last year, we were 3rd from bottom and had just sacked Mr. Calderwood. Fastforward 12 months and we sit 3rd in the table under Billy Davies and look good enough to improve on that. God knows what the second half of the season has in store for us, but it's gonna be exciting. Roll on Monday and the visit of Coventry to the City Ground.
