Cash Strapped Notts Hoping To Sign Moloney

The self proclaimed richest club outside the Premiership, are struggling to find the funds that would take Forest defender Brendan Moloney to Meadow Lane permanently.

Moloney joined Notts County back in July, on a 6 month loan deal and has established himself in the first team there. The 20 year old has become an ever present in the side and has only missed 4 games, due to international commitments. Notts desperately want to keep him, but at present are finding themselves financially embarrassed.

Notts Executive Chairman Peter Trembling told the NEP. 'Ideally we would make an offer to buy him from Forest but that is dependent on getting investment in. We are trying to get investment into the club and hopefully later this week we will have a better indication where we are at.'

Moloney is one of the few Forest players to have made his loan spell a success, with both Matt Thornhill and Arron Davies having their loan spells at Brighton cut short. Billy Davies will be pleased with the progress that Moloney has made, but whether he has a role for him at The City Ground, remains to be seen. He is one of the brightest prospects at the club and many fans would like to see him given a chance, but with the team doing so well at present, he would find it difficult to get a place on the bench. Whatever the future holds for Moloney, we wish him well.
