Clubs Fined Over Sheep Melee

Clubs Fined Over Sheep Melee

The Football Association have fined both Derby County and Nottingham Forest, for failing to control their players during the game at the Sheepdip earlier this season.

A mass brawl broke out at the end of the Reds' 1-0 defeat on January 30, following a touchline collision between Jay McEveley and Chris Gunter. Whilst it was all handbags generally, Forest manager Billy Davies accused his counterpart Nigel Clough, of kicking him in the back of the leg. Davies has put that matter in the hands of his lawyers.

The fines total £45,000 for each club and includes £10,000, suspended from another incident for the same offence at the City Ground last year. NFFC Chief Executive Mark Arthur, told the official site that the club may appeal this latest decision by an Independant Regulatory Commission.

This wont be the last time that the boys from the Sheepdip are up before the beak. They face a further third charge of failing to control their players, for the same offence, during their 1-0 defeat at home to Swansea on February 20.
