McKenna Out For The Season

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has been dealt a severe blow, with news that captain Paul McKenna will not play again this season.

McKenna suffered kne ligament damage during the 1-0 win over Swansea earlier this month. It was hoped that McKenna would be back in time for the crucial Playoff games, but this news means he will not be in contention.

Davies told the official site. 'He is finished. I don't think he will make the play-offs - I think he is done. I have known this was a massive blow since he got injured. The last player we could have afforded to lose this season was him. I think we could have afforded to lose any other player in the side this season - apart from McKenna. That is why it is such a blow. You could see that at Newcastle, because he would have pulled people around.'

This is the precise reason why we needed to get additional players in during the January transfer window, but the club failed to do so. We can't afford any setbacks with such a small squad, but the club knew that and did nothing.

The silence was deafening, hope the transfer panel now see how crucial his absence, without replacement will be!
