4 Clubs In Hunt To Sign Boyd

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony says he's resigned to losing his star striker George Boyd over the summer, after the player refused the offer of a new contract.

Speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph MacAnthony said. "I actually tried one last ditch offer to him personally last week and offered him massive money to sign a new three-year deal just so we could re-unite 'The Holy Trinity` (Boyd, Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron Mclean) in League One, but he refused it and told me he would like out. We have four clubs at present negotiating hard to buy him and I expect he will go in the summer."

Forest and Middlesbrough are two of the clubs named as chasing the Posh striker who netted 12 goals for them, prior to his loan move to the City Ground. Despite Forest paying a reported half million pounds for Boyd's loan deal, he's hardly played for the Reds' since joining in March.

Boyd has only made 4 appearances for Forest and hasn't managed to play a full 90 mins in any. He doesn't appear to be part of Billy Davies' plans at the moment, so a move for him in the summer would seem doubtful.

Think we need to be looking at better anyway if we're serious about going up.

The number of times he's played for us, backs up the rumour he wasn't a player Davies wanted. Although he had a decent debut, his form hasn't been that great since. 12 goals in a relegated team though, says he isn't all bad.
