The Vital Forest Fan Interview: LoyalRed

The Vital Forest Fan Interview: LoyalRed

Loyal Red is the first person to sit in the hot seat, for the Vital Forest Fan Interview 2010 edition.

Q - How long have you been following Forest and what was your first game?

Since I can remember what football was...probably about 1988. First game was a Forest vs Notts County game at the City Ground.

Q - What are your most memorable moments as a Forest fan? Good and Bad.
Good would have to be UEFA Cup run and the home games...just an amazing atmosphere that I've not yet since experienced again. Also many happy Wembley visits.

Bad...well there have been a few. I think being 3-0 down to Plymouth at home in a game we had to win to try and avoid relegation to the Championship...it was just so depressing and an abject performance. Losing 8-1 to Man Utd was also pretty bad, but almost in a comical way.

Q - Since you have been following Forest, what would your best eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

Sutton, Laws, Pearce, Walker, Cooper, Stone, Keane, Bohinen, Reid, Collymore, PVH (though the last I despise personality wise).

Q - In your opinion, what is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

Pearce free kicks against Coventry at home in early nineties I think.

Q - Best and worst away ground visited?

Best...Wembley is up there as our national stadium. St James this season was a very good ground. Worst has to be Rotherham. A hole.

Q - What are your thoughts on the proposed new stadium?

Excellent idea. A new ground is needed to increase revenue from the stadium and allows us to continue to progress as a club. I think the Wembley for women is a master-stroke PR wise as well. The only concern around the new ground is that it would be a soul-less bowl of a stadium just like all the other new stadiums. Derby's for example is horrible...no characters and on an industrial estate. I don't believe that will happen though.

Q- Which player(s) would you like to see us sign this summer(realistically)?

Shorey and Pratley for sure. I think we need one or two wide players as Tyson isn't up to the job. I'd like to see Boyd signed and one other. Could also do with a striker as well, but of a Blackstock mould to share the load. I don't believe we need another centre half unless we get a long term injury to one of Wes, Wilson or Chambers.

Q - All seater stadia. Good thing, or a bad thing?

Good. Much safer...lives are more important than anything else. Stewarding needs to be appropriate of course.

Q - What are your thoughts on how Forest did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?

The side did magnificently. Third in the league was as good as we could have hoped for in my opinion and we played some wonderful football on the way. It was a tough Championship this season with Newcastle and West Brom. At the start of the season I'd have bitten your hand off for the third place finish. The only disappointment is what might have been had the AP not messed up so badly in January. The team noticeably lost that edge after January...as Billy said they would.

Q - What are your expectations for next season in the Championship?

Assuming Billy stays and we get three new players in of a good quality, auto promotion. The teams coming down will be very weak so this is a chance I hope we can take.

Q - What League position will Forest occupy at the end of the 2010/11 season?

1st.

Q - What's your opinion of Billy Davies and what he's done at NFFC, since his arrival?

He is quite simply the best manager we've had for a long long time. A proper football man that doesn't take any rubbish - something NFFC have been crying out for. He has bought well, and you can't argue with 19th to 3rd in terms of progress. Yes he has his faults but who doesn't. I for one am happy to accept those faults in exchange for superb attacking Forest-style football and progress.

Q- Acquisitions Panel. Good thing or bad?

Good...BUT must be re-organised. The AP panel has failed in both of the last January windows, but succeeded in the summer windows. I think Billy needs more control, but the idea of the AP and what its there for is a good idea and not something to be scrapped.

Q - Where do you sit/stand at the City Ground?

Brian Clough upper.

Q - Name the celebrity you would most like to bang.

Kerry Katona...if you mean bang as in the sound of the gun going off!
