Celtic To Come In With Formal Bid For Wilson

Speculation continues over the Forest future of Kelvin Wilson, with The Guardian reporting that Celtic are to make a formal bid for the centre half.

Celtic have been interested in Wilson since the beginning of the summer, but are now said to be ready to test the Reds' resolve with a bid of £2.5m.

Wilson is still only 24 and has a year to run on his current contract. He was signed from Preston in 2007 for £300,000 and will be seen as an integral part of the rebuilding process underway at the City Ground. Wilson's a local lad and as rumour has it, quite happy to stay. So expect him to be offered a new and improved contract anytime soon with the Reds, otherwise...he's off.

£2.5m isn't enough to temp us I hope, it would cost that much at least, to replace him. And if we have ambitions to be in a higher league, you don't sell your bestter players.

Agreed DDR. Unless it's silly money (and 2.5m isn't), then I'd not want to see him go. Vastly improved on previous seasons and a tough one to replace.

Agree we shouldn't sell Wilson. I think he could play in the prem so £2.5 mill would be a giveaway. Suspect he will get a new bumper contract.

Hi I'm a Celtic fan don't watch championship football but from what I've read he seems good, what would Forest fans value him at? and is he ye're best defender?
