'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Vital Forest Fan Interview: HaggisRed

Q - How long have you been following Forest and what was your first game?

If memory serves me well I first started supporting Forest as a kid in 1967 in the days of Johnny Carey as manager .My first game that I attended was against Wolves at the City Ground, Wolves took the lead through Hugh Curran and were in front at half time but we scored 4 goals in the second half to win. I was over the moon and hooked from that day.

Q - What are your most memorable moments as a Forest fan? Good and Bad.

Best memories are all the cup finals at Wembley in our golden era, signing Stanley and both European finals.
Over the past 10 years there have been too many bad memories, losing 3-0 in a cup game to Chester , losing in the same season to Bournemouth and Swindon spring to mind but there have been too many for my liking.

Q - Since you have been following Forest, what would your best eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

Favourite player has to be Ian Storey Moore , nothing he could not do with a football and should of gone on to win many more England caps than he did. John Robertson and Stanley also are up there.
The best eleven that I have seen are :
Peter Shilton, Viv Anderson, Des Walker, Kenny Burns, Stuart Pearce, Martin O'Neil, Trevor Francis, John McGovern, John Robertson, Stanley Colleymore and Ian Storey Moore.

Substitutes :Peter Grumitt, Larry Lloyd, Terry Hennessey, Archie Gemmell, Lars Bohinen, Duncan McKenzie and Pierre Van Hoydonk.

Q - In your opinion, what is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

Stanley's against Man Utd when he beat 4/5 players or John Metgod's thunderbolt against West Ham.

Q - Best and worst away ground visited?

Best ground was the Bernabeu Stadium ,although it was great to go to Wembley almost annually.
I have been to some shit grounds but the one that stands out for me was Edgar Street Hereford on a cold winter's evening although we won 1-0 Terry Curran scoring the goal.

Q - What are your thoughts on the proposed new stadium?

Not too keen ,maybe it's because I am old and don't like change!!!

Q - Which player(s) would you like to see us sign this summer(realistically)?

Prately, Shorey, E Banks-Blake, Wheater, I reckon that would do it !!!

Q - All seater stadia. Good thing, or a bad thing?

Good thing , I was there at Hillsboro and never want to see a day like that again, although if properly controlled there could be be an argument for a small standing area for those supporters that wished to stand.

Q - What are your thoughts on how Forest did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?

Great season, bit disappointing in the end , but hey ho onwards and upwards. Might be a blessing in disguise as truthfully speaking I think it was a bit early for us.
We far exceeded my expectations thought we might get between 10-12th place.

Q - What are your expectations for next season in the Championship?

At least the play offs, depending on how much backing is given by Nigel.

Q - What League position will Forest occupy at the end of the 2010/11 season?

Hopefully one of the automatics but I fully expect to be up there in the play offs.

Q - What's your opinion of Billy Davies and what he's done at NFFC, since his arrival?

He has been our saviour, when I think back to the dross we have mainly served up over the past 10 years then he has been brilliant .Wish he would keep his gob shut sometimes but I suppose you have to take the good with the bad.

Q - Acquisitions Panel. Good thing or bad?

Good thing , in this day and age can't go throwing money around on mediocre players .Pratt wasted enough !!!

Q - Where do you sit/stand at the City Ground?

Unfortunately I am now exiled out in Thailand so it is a long way to come , although I still make it to the City Ground each year for at least a couple of home games .Was an ex season ticket holder, sat in Brain Clough Stand.

Q - Name the celebrity you would most like to bang.

Definitely Cheryl Cole although don't tell the wife!!!
