Forest Still Chasing Shorey

Billy Davies hasn't given up hope of signing Nicky Shorey, even though a return to The City Ground had seemed unlikely.

Patience is the key according to Davies, who was talking to The Nottingham Post, and this is something that he has, and will have as far as the Villa man goes: 'I hope to manage Real Madrid one day. Whether that happens is a different argument.

'If Nicky Shorey does not get a Premier Division club and there is a possibility that we can do something; if there is a possibility that he could still become available, either on loan or permanently - then until that door closes on us, he remains an option.

'He is one of several players that I have recommended for that position.'

Signings are still on the Forest managers agenda, with three-five wanted. Offers for Jermaine Johnson and Peter Whittingham have been rejected but an interest is still there. Davies wouldn't discuss names of players of interest though as he felt this would be 'unfair' on the players, and the clubs, involved.

I would assume that most would like to see Nicky Shorey return to Forest, although do you think it will happen?

A 6 month loan looks like the best chance of it happening, that way he still has the chance to move to the prem if he wanted to in January, or stick with us if we're on course for promotion (wishful thinking maybe!)

Wishful thinking indeed. Without some new impetus, I can't see us being up there this time cpme January. :(
