Davies Upbeat Despite Opening Day Defeat

The 1-0 defeat at the hands of Burnley yesterday, made it 13 games without an away win for Forest. You have to go all the way back to January and that emphatic 3-1 win at West Brom, to find the last success the Reds' had on their travels.

Despite coming away with nothing to show for their efforts in the opening game of the new campaign, manager Billy Davies was talking positively about the performance in his post match interview on the official site.

'It was a very positive performance, there is no doubt we had some great opportunities, I have played poorer than that and picked up three points. In the first half our possession was not as good as it should have been, but in the second half we showed a lot of good quality and created opportunities in front of goal.'

If Forest harbour any ambitions at all of improving on last seasons 3rd place finish, they have to address the awful away form. Missed chances infront of goal were once again cited as reasons for the defeat and although true, it's a problem that has to be rectified if they want to make the step up. They will get the chance to do exactly that when they travel to Bradford City on Tuesday night, for the 1st round of the Carling Cup.
