'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Billy Davies Is Talking Dirty

Billy Davies believes one of the reasons Forest failed to collect all three points in the game against Leeds United yesterday, was because they are young and naive. It's all part of the learning curve he told the NEP and he wants them to learn about the nasty side of things.

Defender Chris Gunter might be one step ahead of the manager on that front, as he was involved in an incident in which United manager Simon Grayson, claims he should have been sent off. Grayson said that Gunter stamped on the foot of striker Sanchez Watt, which should have resulted in the Forest player being shown the red card. Grayson is even asking for the authorities to investigate the incident further. In Gunter's' defence, Forest are claiming the same thing about Watt.

Whilst Davies says he wants the team to play 'the Forest way,' he admits that sometimes they may have to resort to the ugly stuff. 'This is Championship football, not La Liga. You can do it in Spanish football, because that is the way they play. But in the Championship, there will be times when we will not be allowed to get the ball down and play. What we have to do then is find a different way. We are talking about grinding out results.'

For 30 mins Forest had Leeds on the ropes, but despite their early dominance in the game, they only had a single goal lead to show for it. Leeds not only managed to get back into the game, they managed to stop us from playing as well. At least Davies is right in recognising the fact that it was our failure to adapt to that change that cost us the win.
