'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McGugan Makes FL Team Of The Week

Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan is enjoying a massive turnaround in fortunes lately, not only with his impresssive performances for the Reds', but also with news that he's today been selected in the Football League Team of the Week.

It will be seen as recognition not only for his sterling performance this weekend, with his 2 goals against Swansea, but also for the vast improvement he's made to his game this year. The win over Swansea was the 2nd time this season he's bagged a brace, following on from the 2 he got in the 2-1 win at Preston a fortnight ago.

He was vilified by manager Billy Davies last season for his lack of fitness and attitude, but he looks to have taken heed of what has been said and is living up to the reputation of being one of the hottest young prospects in the Championship.

Young Lewis has a lot to learn but does seem to be turning the corner. If he carries on in this vein, he could go all the way. Someone offer him a new contract, quickly.

It's about time someone recognized Billy for his handling of Lewis. He's constantly criticized in the forums for his man-management when he takes a hard line but he's obviously handled this one the right way. How would Cloughie have done it? Not much differently I would have thought.
