McGugan Wins PFA Fans Award

This season has seen a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan. After finding himself frozen out for much of the last campaign, he's not only fought his way back into contention, he's become one of the first names on the teamsheet for manager Billy Davies.

McGugan came under heavy criticism from the manager last year, for being overweight and living a life not becoming a professional footballer according to Davies. Over the summer he's knuckled down and shed the pounds and as a result, he's regained the form that led many to believe he had a great future in the game.

7 goals in his last 9 games has now earned him the accolade of the PFA Fans Player of the Month Award for October. It's a prestigious award, because it's voted for by fans of every club in the Championship. Lewis beat off some stiff competition for the award, with Luciano Becchio - Leeds United, Jay Bothroyd - Cardiff City, Simeon Jackson - Norwich City and Billy Sharp - Doncaster Rovers, also nominated.
