Bertrand Hoping For City Ground Loan Extension

Chelsea's on loan defender Ryan Bertrand is hoping that a deal can be arranged for his loan spell at the City Ground to be extended.

Bertrand arrived in the summer from Stamford Bridge on a six month deal. It's due to expire in January and the player says he'd be happy to see it extended.

Speaking to the NEP, Bertrand said. I would be open to that if the clubs can agree on it, definitely. I am enjoying it here and that is the main thing in your football career. You can go to places and play, but not enjoy your football. But here, under the gaffer, I have learned massive amounts of things. It is grown man's football here, if I can put it in those terms. I am sure we work as hard as anyone in the league. But he is brilliant at getting the best out of players; at fine tuning your game.

After a slow start with the Reds', he's become an integral part of the team and is improving with each game he plays. I think it's fair to say that his chances at the Bridge are limited and he is probably way down the pecking order with the Premiership club. We are unlikely to find better at this level, so whilst he is clearly happy here it would seem wise to extend his loan. If that works out well, there should be every chance of making his move permanent in the summer and securing his future with us.
