FIFA To Announce 2018 World Cup Hosts

Football's governing body FIFA, is to announce the successful bids for both the 2018 and 2022 World Cup Finals in Zurich this afternoon.

If the England bid comes out on top, it will be the first time the tournament will have been held here since winning it back in 1966.

Nottingham and Nottingham Forest in particular will be keeping a more than passing eye on proceedings, after they were announced as one of the potential host cities in the England bid. The winners are expected to be named shortly after 3pm, with delegates from the Nottingham bid team assembling at the City Ground awaiting the outcome.

Whether or not Nottingham will be awarded host city status will still be up for debate even if England wins the bid today or not, because FIFA will not make the final announcement on that until 2013.
