Davies Praises Outstanding Support From Fans

Billy Davies is a passionate man and likes nothing more than picking up 3 points on a Saturday afternoon, but when it's in the backyard of your old foes, fiercest rivals, former employers and in a heated local derby, he enjoys it as much as the fans.

Games between Forest and Derby have become the stuff of legend in recent times and it's fair to say, there's no love lost between players, supporters and even the none playing staff of both clubs. FA disciplinary hearings and opposing manager fallouts have become the norm in this fixture and the 1-0 win for the Reds' on Saturday proved no exception.

It was the usual feisty affair, with 8 bookings, a sending off and penalty shouts for both sides, but fortunately the game ended without the need for investigations into the behaviour of either club.

It proved to be a great day out for the 4,000 Forest fans who made the trip and their backing for the lads has earned them the praise of manager Billy Davies. The support from the terraces was fantastic as usual and managed to silence the home crowd throughout. That support was acknowledged by Davies, when he told the official site. 'I must give a huge thank you for the outstanding support from the fans who have the bragging rights today.'

It was the first time we've won at the Sheep Dip and means we've done the double on them this year. 'It is a fantastic double, great credit to the players and the staff behind me,' said Davies. The players and coaching staff applauded the fans at the end of the game and keeper Lee Camp even came over and paraded the Brian Clough trophy in front of them. It was a remarkable day, for which quite a few fans are paying the price for today with hangovers.
