Forest travel to Ashton Gate on Monday, hoping to catch a Bristol City side with one foot on the airplane, that is hopefully jetting them off to the summer sun. The season may be over for the Robins, but for the Reds', it's very much alive, with a place in the Playoffs still up for grabs.
With only 3 games of the season remaining, Forest at least have their destiny in their own hands and occupy 6th place on goal difference ahead of 7th placed Leeds United. Following the 3-2 win over Leicester on Friday, the first green shoots of recovery are beginning to show, as the Reds' attempt to get their season back on track.
City go into the game on the back of a 3-2 defeat away at basement boys Sheffield United at the weekend and will be without star man Nicky Maynard, who was given a straight red for a two footed tackle in the game. Forest could give a first start to US international Robbie Findley, who got 10 minutes under his belt in the win over the Foxes. Defender Paul Konchesky will also be available for a recall, after completing his one match suspension. But, there are still doubts over Nathan Tyson, who is said to have picked up a hip injury in training.
The form guide shows both sides struggling for results in their previous 6 games. City have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 3. Forest go into the game on a run that sees them with 2 wins and 4 defeats from their last 6. Goalscoring has been more of a problem for the Robins than it has for the Reds', scoring only 7 and conceding 8. Forest's normally solid defence has had a few questions asked of it of late, with 15 being conceded in the last 6 games.
Earlier this season, we beat the Robins 1-0 at the City Ground, with a goal from Luke Chambers just after half time. Ashton Gate has previously been a happy hunting ground for us and we haven't lost a game there since 1974. In 65 league meetings between the teams, Forest have won 28, drawn 24 and lost 13. My prediction for this one, is a hopeful 1-0 win to the Trickies.
