'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Boateng signing Complete

The signing of George Boateng was officially completed yesterday afternoon with the midfielder, as he told the official website, setting out his intentions early.

Boateng has spent a short spell with Celtic and played a year in Greece for Skoda Xanthi since leaving Hull and an unexpected return to English football is one he is looking to make the most of.

Having played out a decade plus career in this country previously exclusively in the top-flight it will be a different experience for him though, but he is up for it and wants to help Forest to promotion: 'I'm really excited to be back in England and I sincerely hope I can help bring success by the end of the season.

'I didn't expect this but I was very happy to get the opportunity to join a club like Forest. The manager asked me if I would like to come and train and things developed from there.

'I've spent all my time in England in the Premier League so this is something new for me but I would love to think I could get back into the top flight.'

Known well to Forest manager Steve McClaren, from their time together at Middlesbrough, the 35-year-old believes that he is the right man to take the club forward and get them back into the top-flight.

Doing 'everything he can to win games' is something that the former Dutch international intends to do and is up for a fight to keep his place in the starting 11.

Boateng will have a year at The City Ground, although this could become a longer stay if all works out this season...
