'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Routledge a Forest target

Forest chairman Nigel Doughty, when talking to The Evening Post, has confirmed that the club are in talks with Wayne Routledge over a move to The City Ground.

It is being said that he would cost around £2m to sign from Newcastle. The fee, it would seem, is not such an issue but the players wages may well be.

Doughty admitted the interest but also confirmed his concerns over meeting his possible wage demands: 'he is somebody on our list, yes. I don't know if it will happen, but we are talking.

'Players will have to come to the conclusion that, if they are not playing in the Premier League, the Championship has more restrictions these days.'

It is a simple decision for Routledge to make really, would he be happier picking up his premier league wages at Newcastle not playing or would he reduce this wage, which he would have to, to come to Forest and play regularly?

It depends what means more to him really...

Routledge signing or not a wide player is the priority for Steve McClaren, and not a striker amid reports of an interest in Middlesbrough striker Leroy Lita.
