'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Derbyshire Says He's A Red Via twitter

It's so far been a very long summer of rumour and speculation for Forest fans, as far as new signings are concerned, but the newest recruit to the Nottingham Forest ranks (if the players very own twitter page is to be believed) is Matthew Derbyshire.

There's so far been no official confirmation from the Nottingham Forest official site, but assuming his twitter page is genuine, the player says. 'I would like to say I'm so excited to be playing for Nottingham Forest this year - all signed 3 year deal. Gonna be a great season.'

Derbyshire is still only 25 and first made a name for himself as a striker at Blackburn Rovers. He signed a four year deal at Greek club Olympiakos in 2009, but according to Wikipedia, was told at the beginning of this season that he was free to join another club.

UPDATE: Matthew Derbyshire has been officially announced as Steve McClaren's fourth new signing. Welcome to the City Ground Matthew.

Not just his name! Not quite done deal... 12 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply

Great signing I think. Champs league & Premier league experience and good quality for this league.

Yes - pleased with this signing - another cheapie as he was out of contract I believe - 1 in 3 goal a game ratio and a lot of experience for someone still a young man. May have to have his first name on the back of his shirt though - Good luck fella
