Forest fans finally have something to smile about, following a dreadful few weeks of poor results on the pitch and fair amount of turmoil off it.
Going into the game at Vicarage Road against Watford, Forest were sitting 2nd from bottom in the Championship table, with only one win in their previous 7 games. The 1-0 win over the Hornets may have sent the watching TV audience off for an early night, but it may later be viewed as the the game where the fortunes of the manager and the team turned around.
McClaren admitted in his post match interview that it was an ugly game, but he was pleased with the determination shown by the lads. 'It was a massive win after a difficult week, we got the three points and that is the most important thing.'
The win sends the Reds' up to the dizzy heights of 18th in the table and whilst not exactly the position many supporters were hoping for at the start of the season, it makes for much better reading than it did before the game. Next up it's another tough away trip to struggling Burnley in midweek, followed by the visit of Brum to the City Ground next Sunday.
